The people behind the patterns…

In Phase I, seven design professionals and academics participated in documenting regional patterns of the built and natural environments. Documenting the Coastal Plains region were Camden Whitehead, James Hill, and John Malinoski. Documenting the Piedmont region were Mimi Sadler, Allison Ewing, and James Hill. Documenting the Mountain region were Kevin Jones and Helene Renard.

In Phase II, fifteen VCU design students, one VCUarts faculty, and two mOb mentors participated in the project through the VCUarts mOb studio. A mix of interior design and urban planning students documented the patterns of the built and natural environments along 2nd Street, in Richmond, from region 1 (north of Interstate 95) to region 2 (in-between Interstate 95 and E Broad Street) and region 3 (between E Broad Street and the James River). Phase II project participants, faculty, and mentors included Sarah An, Lucy Bolin, Jenna Bramblet, Cali Carter, Keenan Diggs Rhodes, Madison Donnelly, Miriam Gibson, Sophie Kozlowski, Kristy Leitzel, Lisa Moon, Caitlin Neenan, Sarah Repetti, Allie Sarinana, Isabelle Stadulis, Stephanie Wilburn, and professors Camden Whitehead, Sara Reed, and Emily Smith
